Dear editor:

Do we need a Graduated Tax [February 25]? The answer to this is easy. No! Not in any way, shape or form. It was a bad idea in the past and is still a bad idea today.

A Graduated Income Tax would hurt those who earn more through their own hard work. Their ability to keep up with inflation and higher prices would be impeded and any raises would be wiped out.

Economists like Milton Friedman and Walter Williams and former U.S. Representative Jack Kemp are the true heroes in this or any debate on a Graduated Income Tax.

Just the opposite should be taking place, and that is that a move should be made to abolish the Income Tax because it is the cruelest tax of all and one has a right to all they earn.
