To the editors:

I would like to suggest that out of respect to the late Bill Veeck, Alan Boomer cease his practice of referring to the current Sox mallpark as “Bill Veeck Stadium” and “the Veeck” [Sports Section, October 8].

Bill Veeck was a real fan’s owner, with a real love of life and people. It’s hard to imagine him being pleased at the thought of connecting his name to the stadium, with its exclusive club for season ticket holders, its two tiers of corporate seats, and its foundation in clout and blackmail. More likely, old Will is spinning in his grave at the idea.

Comiskey Park is appropriately named now, after the man whose greed has helped curse the franchise since 1919.
