Sir or Madam:

I have been away from Chicago for six months. So it is possible that Dina Elenbogen’s “Rogers Park Diary” [Our Town, February 25] was not the lamest, weakest, most maudlin piece of saccharine fruitcake I have ever seen. But I read of her shock at the fact that her purloined mail is not a police emergency and I can only hope that her check from the Reader was among the stolen envelopes.
