To the editors:

In response to Dina DiLorenzo’s letter on p. 35 of your 11/15/91 issue, regarding presumed Israeli abuse of “indigenous” people:

Ms. DiLorenzo errs in viewing the Greek-descended Philistines as indigenous to Palestine.

Furthermore, the Arabs of which the Palestinians are a branch, are largely a mix of peoples whose ancestors invaded the northern Near East AFTER the Biblical era.

Israel is the sole center of the Jewish faith, and Jews from anywhere in the world have a pre-eminent right to dwell and worship there, whether they come from New York or from the turbulent and anti-Semitically dangerous Soviet Union.

There’s plenty of land for the Palestinians among their fellow-Arabs. Israel is for the Jews.
