To the editors:

I was disappointed in the time zone column (Hot Type, January 3) written by M. Miner. One important issue was totally ignored in the column–energy savings for the Chicago Region. I have heard Mr. Peterson speak on the Time Zone Change and he focuses a large part of his speech on the energy we could be saving by switching to this new time zone. Why was this important issue ignored in this article? Saving our resources is an important issue that needs to be faced and not ignored as the writer chose to do. I can remember back in 1973-74 when we were all on this time zone to deal with the oil crisis. It worked then and it can work again. I’m in favor of saving our resources, saving money, and being able to enjoy more daylight.
