The article about saving the rare mulefoot pig via eating them was appallingly unpalatable [“Good Company and Good Food,” May 18]. Their “owners” who purportedly revere and love them while proclaiming that having them slaughtered is imperative for the species’ survival is pure rubbish. Across the United States there are several “no kill” havens for pigs including PIGS, Pigs Peace Sanctuary, and the Ironwood Pig Sanctuary. Intelligent, endangered pigs belong in humane sanctuaries, not in human digestive cemeteries.
