It’s understandable that Reader critic Lawrence Bommer would have preferred to hear more of Frank Loesser’s Broadway songs in National Jewish Theater’s Loesser revue On a Slow Boat to China [August 2]. Unfortunately, our contractual arrangement with Music Theatre International limited us to no more than five songs from any one show, and we did use five from each of his two richest scores, Guys and Dolls and The Most Happy Fella. Incidentally, among the five songs we include from Guys and Dolls is the ever-popular “My Time of Davis.”

Lawrence Bommer replies:

Mea maxima culpa! How could I flub the name of someone whose work I’ve enjoyed for almost two decades? In my review I mistakenly referred to Kingsley Day as Kingsley Davis. I apologize for the error.
