Shellac, Steve Albini’s tight, cantankerous power trio, headlines a free show at 6:30 tonight at Millennium Park. If you’re not familiar with their work, here’s a video for my favorite song off 2007’s Excellent Italian Greyhound, “Steady As She Goes”:
“Hello, Mr. Tyler. Going . . . down?”
At the risk of reinforcing every stereotype about petty, mean-spirited music critics, I have to say that this is probably the funniest thing I’ll see all day. NEA chair Rocco Landesman speaks out
Back in May, I blogged about Rocco Landesman’s nomination as chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts. I noted that Landesman, a veteran Broadway and regional-theater producer, had operated the Royal George Theatre here back in the 1990s, where he mounted the Chicago premiere of Angels in America. Lollapalooza: A Guide to Hippies
